We’ve gone to Cozumel, Mexico on a cruise ship numerous times, and one of our favorite Carnival shore excursions is Chankanaab National Park. There’s something for everyone at this magnificent location. They also have a beautiful nature trail, as well as snorkeling, diving, adult and child’s pools, swimming with the dolphins, and a very restful walk along the beach. There are also clean restrooms and a restaurant on site. A shallow part of the beach is ideal for youngsters. There’s also a fantastic sea lion show for children.
In June, the entire area did not appear to be jam-packed. On the beach, there are plenty of open spots, and some even have a palapa for free. We wanted to visit the park on our own rather than using Carnival Cruise Excursions directly. The journey there and back takes ten minutes, and a taxi costs $10 each way. Beach chairs and umbrellas are available for rental at the beach for an additional charge. The current entry fee is $20.
Amazing Facts About Chankanaab
The snorkeling at Chankanaab is breathtaking. Because you descend rocky stairs into the sea and there are some significant waves, entering the water may be a little tough. We saw some magnificent fish right away, and the water was as pure as could be. While diving or snorkeling, you may view underwater antiquities. For $10 a day, you can rent snorkel gear at the beach.
The picnic area’s restaurant is surprisingly good. We had a fantastic combination platter with some ice-cold beer, to boot.
For anybody, the nature walk is a lot of fun. There are many entry points to the route, but the best is surrounded by an incredible saline pond that contains some amazing fish. The pool is quite stunning and has some amazing fish that I’ve ever seen. On your trek, you may encounter a variety of iguanas and geckos. There are also some real Mayan ruins, as well as some copies. On your walk, you will come across an abundance of beautiful tropical plants and flowers.
The park also has a dolphin swim experience. After an hour in the water with the dolphins, you may go into the manatees’ habitat.
This Carnival Shore excursion is a no-brainer. There will be a lot of personnel on hand at the park to answer any questions and assist you if required.
